About the Role:

This is a key position to lead a team in a significant programme of work to upgrade New Zealand’s telecommunications network. The role requires delivery on all contractual obligations and responsibility for revenue generation and ensuring the projects performance meets all customer requirements, delivering on safety, optimizing resource use and the achievement of target results. 

This is a fast-paced Project Management position ideally based in Auckland or Christchurch. You will be overseeing a range of projects focused on Outside Plant (OSP) upgrades which require proven project management and leadership experience. The role requires an understanding of Telecommunications networks, civil works and engaging with multiple contractors and stakeholders for successful project outcomes.

The role would benefit from someone with a high degree of commercial financial/business acumen and safety focus but most importantly a team player that can deliver on Downer and our Customer’s expectations.

About you:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Relevant Telco, Civil engineering and / or project / construction management experience and qualifications as required.
• At least 5 years’ experience of engineering related project management work, telecommunications industry background would be an advantage
• Project delivery management and scoping / costing skills and experience.
• ‘Zero Harm’ and HSEQ championing.
• Strong technical, commercial and financial acumen.
• Team player who supports and actively works towards achieving team goals.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Prioritising and time management skills.
• A strong track record that clearly demonstrates leadership behaviours that empower others
• Ability to operate in a busy and changing environment, showing sound judgment and a professional approach.

• Undertake regional travel from time-to-time to satisfy project requirements
