Job Description

We are looking for a Team Leader to provide leadership to a Microbiology team within our Dairy, Food and Water laboratory in Auckland

The Team Leader is responsible for leading the day to day operations of the team, with particular reference to applying their expertise to the timely and accurate completion of tasks which they are given authority to manage. The Team Leader is responsible for organising priorities and providing guidance and training to the Team, while supporting the Manager in ensuring operational, customer and quality requirements are met.

Position Responsibilities & Objectives

• Ensure health, safety and quality requirements of the team are being met and that all team members/employees under their care understand their health, safety and quality responsibilities as outlined in Eurofins policies and operating practices.
• Assist in the day to day management and running of laboratory and their Team.
• Coordinate and monitor the progress of work; reviewing, checking and authorising the work performed.
• Train and assess staff on their expertise and competency.
• Compile, review and/or approve analytical test procedures, protocols and reports.
• Compile and review quality documents in a timely manner as required.
• Perform analysis, calculations, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment when required.
• Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies.
• Act in accordance with the Eurofins Code of Ethics, and all other relevant policies and procedures, as updated from time to time. 

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Science, or equivalent appropriate experience in a relevant scientific field.
• Expertise and experience working in an appropriate scientific discipline.
• Good knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel. General understanding of IT systems, production control and the ability to apply improvements to existing systems will be an advantage.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directly.
