The MitoQ story began in a science lab at the University of Otago in the 1990s with the aim of creating a better, more effective antioxidant that could significantly help human health. Their world-first breakthrough MitoQ did just that, and then they gave it to the global health community to help research its benefits and tell them its potential. In recent years MitoQ have commercialised their business and have seen a significant period of year-on-year growth. They export to over 100 countries and have a large presence in the USA and China markets. They are now seeking a talented CFO to partner with the CEO and wider Executive team and support their ongoing growth strategy.
About the Role:
Reporting to the CEO and Board, the CFO is an integral part of a highly motivated Executive team. You play a key role in strategy development and are an essential sounding board for the CEO and wider leadership team. There is an excellent bench strength in your team allowing the core focus to be on commercial decision support and optimization of their value chain. MitoQ are going through continued growth, so scenario modelling and business case preparation is also your remit. IT, HR and Legal are also in your wheelhouse.
With strong financial representation on the MitoQ Board there is nowhere to hide so technical accounting knowledge must be top notch. Exceptional commercial acumen is also critical to understand how value is created, lost, and optimised ensuring the correct allocation of resources. Experience in the consumer products sector and international markets, ideally from an export perspective, are highly desirable but at the end of the day top talent trumps experience every time! You must be young at heart, naturally curious, and thrive in a complex environment operating in multiple jurisdictions, tax regimes and selling through a variety of channels.
